ABOUT THE PAGE...

This blog focuses on the life of Puerto Rican author, Esmeralda Santiago. As Santiago shares personal experiences in her literary works, this blog will also focus on some of her literary works. Santiago is an influential author who has helped contribute to Women's Literature as it relates to intersectionality. Gender intersectionality is a common theme within Women's Literature, addressing oppression as it's never been addressed before. This theme ultimately proves how oppressions are not isolated to a singular social identity, but rather that oppressions are caused by the intersection of social identities. This site should open your eyes to the idea of intersectionality and the struggles that come with it through the literary works of Esmeralda Santiago.
